Nú hefur framkvæmdastjórn Evrópusambandsins, í kjölfar Draghi-skýrslunnar, efnt til átaks til að einfalda regluverk, í því skyni að bæta alþjóðlega samkeppnishæfni fyrirtækja og atvinnulífs í aðildarríkjunum. Mikið af þessum reglum mun rata inn í samninginn um Evrópska efnahagssvæðið og miklu máli skiptir að íslensk stjórnvöld tryggi skjóta innleiðingu einfaldara regluverks.
Íslensk-evrópska verslunarráðið, Félag atvinnurekenda, sendinefnd Evrópusambandsins á Íslandi, Alþjóða- og Evrópuréttarstofnun Háskólans í Reykjavík, Eftirlitsstofnun EFTA (ESA) og utanríkisráðuneytið efna til málþings um þá vinnu sem farin er af stað við einföldun Evrópuregluverksins, áhrif hennar á EES-samninginn, íslenskt atvinnulíf og eftirlit ESA með reglunum. Málþingið er haldið í Háskólanum í Reykjavík 10. febrúar kl. 12-14 og verður jafnframt streymt á netinu.
Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir utanríkisráðherra opnar málþingið, en aðalræðumaður er Michael Wimmer, sem stýrir einföldunarátaki framkvæmdastjórnar ESB. Auk þeirra taka til máls Árni Páll Árnason, varaforseti ESA, Kristín Helga Auðunsdóttir, lektor í lögfræði við HR og Þorsteinn Víglundsson, forstjóri Hornsteins. The push for simplification of European regulation and increased competitiveness
Are new EEA rules sometimes burdensome and increase regulatory burden on businesses?
If you hold this view, there are good news. In the wake of the Draghi Report, the European Commission has launched an initiative to simplify the regulatory framework, with the aim of strengthening the international competitiveness of businesses in the EU Member States. A significant share of these rules will be incorporated into the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA), and it is crucial that the Icelandic authorities ensure the swift implementation of this simplified regulatory framework.
The Icelandic–EU Trade Council, the Icelandic Federation of Trade, the Delegation of the European Union to Iceland, RU Institute of International and European Law, the EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA), and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will host a seminar on the work currently underway to simplify EU legislation, its impact on the EEA Agreement, Icelandic business, and ESA’s supervision of the rules. The seminar will take place at Reykjavík University on 10 February from 12:00 to 14:00 and will also be streamed online. The seminar will be conducted in English.
